To ensure the best possible outcome from your cosmetic procedure

Having cosmetic surgery is a major life changing decision and the healthcare professionals involved with your care want to ensure that you have the best possible outcome after surgery.

For the majority of people, surgery is a positive experience and improves self-esteem, confidence and quality of life; however for some, surgery does not improve well-being and can have a detrimental effect on mental health. A psychological assessment is not a ‘test’ or a way of preventing you having surgery but rather a way to ensure you are both physically and mentally prepared for the cosmetic procedure and that get the best possible surgical outcome.

The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) also recognise the importance of psychological well-being prior to surgery and highly recommend that psychological assessment and support should be offered to all individuals seeking cosmetic surgery.
